Harley Horn

Well, I finally finished my "honey -do" list well enough to have a little time for my bike. Despite the 100 degree temperatures, I took full advantage of my time off, and installed the Harley horn. Though I previously read the instructions, there was still some guess work regarding the measurements for my Custom Vstar. Once all final measurements were determined, and the appropriate length bar was cut and drilled, I simply bolted everything together. The Harley horn offers a louder and deeper tone that, with luck, will help announce my presence to the other vehicles. This addition not only dresses up the side of the bike, but also adds to the facade of riding a Harley. Though I'm content with my Vstar, it is always fun to see the look of some folks, and even have some unwittingly make the comment of "nice Harley". Until my next mod update, ride safe!!!

I have a 09-vstar-650-custom, and I was wondering how the hell you got the tank badges off, I cant get a fingernail under them, tried floss, fishing line, gasoline, goo-gone, it's killing me.

I used WD-40 and sprayed it liberally, and as much under the badge as possible. I then took a hairdryer and applied a little heat to aide in making the adhesive a little more pliable.Once you have heated it up pretty good, you can use the floss/fishing line method or, simply try to pry it up with your fingers. Apply constant pressure to an edge and it should begin to release. When doing this, be careful not to scratch the paint with any of the sharp edges on the badge. After the badges are off, you can apply a little more oil to remove the rest of the residue. Then simply wash the bike and apply a new coat of wax.Let me know if you have any more questions and I'll try and help the best I can.

My apologies Charles. After looking at the O9 Vstar, if I'm not mistaken, you actually have a decal that has been clearcoated over. The only way for removal, in short, is to basically have a new paint job.

yeah, that makes sense, it felt like they were clearcoated over.

thanks for finding that out for me
